MEET THE EXPERT: MARCO SARUSSI OF GREEN GECKO DIGITAL

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Green Gecko Digital MD, Marco Sarussi talks to us about his career as a web design specialist and discusses the countless benefits Digital Enterprise can bring to SMEs.

What is it that your company does?

Green Gecko Digital is the one-stop digital agency that specialises in web design, pay per click and social media management.

Describe your role in no more than 100 words

My role is extremely diverse – one day I can be training my team, the other day I can be across Yorkshire helping my clients grow their businesses online!

How did you come to do the work that you do?

I created my first website at 14, which along with a little digital marketing, created £15,000 in its first year. I shortly realised that I can utilise my skill set to help local business grow online.

What exciting things are happening in your industry at the minute?

The digital sphere is ever changing! It’s extremely important to stay up to date, adopt new technologies and innovate.

Where do you see the company in five years’ time?

We’ve experienced steady organic growth quarter on quarter. We’re currently recruiting for another web developer to join the team. I anticipate we’ll still have a small team, as it’s important that we continue to deliver a quality, personable service. This is what sets us aside from larger agencies!

Why was it important for you to support the Digital Enterprise or Digital Knowledge Exchange?

The Digital Enterprise is a great way to give back. Over the last year, we’ve dedicated many hours to offering advice to SMEs within Yorkshire. It’s an honour to help and add value to small businesses – which are so key to the local economy.

What advice would you give to an aspiring business leader?

I was asked this question a couple of days ago and I think the most crucial piece of advice is to have a mission. What is it that you’re trying to achieve? Our mission is to be the best rated digital agency in Yorkshire. This vision impacts on everything we do, and means we go the extra mile to deliver client projects.

What do you wish someone had told you when you started out?

Outsource things you are not an expert into those that are – you will get a better result and save time!

Why would you recommend Digital Enterprise or the Digital Knowledge Exchange?

I thoroughly recommend the Digital Enterprise to any businesses, no matter what size, as the exchange is a valuable service which will help your business grow. Not to mention, it’s free!
